A end of such civil war was highly hoped by the people displaced by the same armed conflict to be an opportunity to return to their homes ending their protracted displaced live. The end of the war was also widely interpreted as an opportunity to renew their onetime ethnic relations, which remained vulnerably damaged after this armed conflict. Sri Lanka entered an uncertain phase of post-civil war political reconstruction.
