Since 1901 consistently decline in sex ratio is observed in various states except Kerala and some part of the North Eastern tribal states. The composition of women in general population varies from state to state depending upon availability of health services, general educational level of he population, women's participation in public life are closely associated with the sex composition of the general population. The distribution pattern of male and female in a population affects relative role at economic relationship. Here are different tools to measure gender equality in a population. Sex ratio is one such widely used tool for cross-sectional analysis for gender balance. This paper highlights the sex composition in Indian population. |
