It has been made from the first five year plan through enacting various laws and regulations. Substantial provisions has been made to protect women from the suffering among them Hindu succession act, dowry prohibition act, equal remuneration act are some of the mile stones of women empowerment. At policy level government is taking necessary action. In first five year plan the emphasis was given on welfare of women, since then government is making its sincere efforts. The constitution of India gives guarantee to provide equal status in most of the walks of the life.
