Here I have endeavoured to offer a critical appreciation of Iqbal in the light of Islamic tradition along with contend to appropriate elements in Iqbal's philosophy which represents continuity with the tradition of Islamic intellectual heritage. Iqbal's essential spirit, his opinions on nationalism, state, democracy, and sovereignty are analyzed in this paper.
