Abstract :
From time immemorial women as well as the weaker sections of the society are discriminated in the male dominated patriarchal orthodox society .Male members always get the preferential treatment and this is done in the name of age old traditions. In African society,culture and the society at large play a crucial role in the marginalization and victimization of the downtrodden sections of society like the women, girl child, widows and slaves. Girls are treated as commodities which could be bought and sold.
