Abstract :
A simple, precise and cost effective spectrophotometric method have been developed for the estimation of mesalamine in its pharmaceu- tical formulations. Mesalamine shows λmax at 232.0 nm in zero order derivative spectrum. The drug follows the Beer-Lambert’s law in the concentration range of 2.0 – 25.0 μg/ml in the method. The method validated by following the analytical performance parameters suggested by the International Conference on Harmonization. All validation parameters were within the acceptable range. The developed method were successfully applied to estimate the amount of mesalamine in pharmaceutical dosage forms.
