The deal not only reverses US policy of pressurizing India to roll back its nuclear weapons programme by imposing nuclear technology trade related sanctions on her for being not a party to the NPT and other international nuclear non-proliferation related treaties as a non-nuclear weapon state but also ushered in a new era in Indo-US bilateral relations.
