In addition, Singh, being an Indian, projects the Indian cultural flavor in his fictional work. Therefore, it is apt to discuss the highly marked conversational chunks i.e. the speech acts in Singh’s famous novel, Train to Pakistan, from pragmatic perspective. The present article attempts to apply speech act theory in identifying the implied force of utterances.
