The archaeological survey of the entire city of Vijaynagar helped us to explore various mounds and sites of historical importance. Archaeologists like John M. Fritz and Michell George brought into light some fascinating structure of the existing time. Other researchers who involved in its study are Carla M. Sinopoli, Kathleen D. Morrison and Anila Verghese. One can understand the Historical relevance of Hampi in the backdrop of Vijaynagar’s social, political and economical situation. However Vijaynagar’s own history has been remained a part of contested debate among the modern day scholarship. Scholars from Nilkanta Sastri to B.D.
