They can be very self-conscious about dental stains and discolorations. Tooth bleaching and esthetic dentistry is now available to treat these problems in children and adolescents. Tooth bleaching has been widely used because it is a simple and effective procedure for removing intrinsic and extrinsic stains. Modifications of the techniques used have been introduced with the aim of enhancing the physical and mechanical properties of the bleached enamel. Aim: Testing the dental enamel microhardness before and after subjecting it to topical application of fluoride and bleaching agent by different ways. Fifty caries-free human premolars were collected in this study divided into five groups each of ten premolars: Group I (Control group) with no treatment; Group II treated with Acidulated Phosphate Fluoride GEL (APF THIXOTROPIC Gel, 1.23%, DHARMA-RESEARCH, Inc., USA) applied on the enamel according to the manufacturer instructions; Group III bleached with Opalescence® PFTM Tooth Whitening Systems gel containing 20% Carbamide peroxide (ULTRADENT/Products, Inc., USA) according to the manufacturer instructions; Group IV bleached (as group III) followed by fluoride application (as group II) and Group V treated with fluoride before and after being bleached. The Vickers hardness number of each group was determined. Additionally, the percentage of microhardness decrease or increase from the control group was calculated. | Keywords : | | - Fluoride,Fluoride
