There are number of factors on which productivity of an industry mostly depends upon. Employee retention is a big & constant challenge for every Industries; it is a costly dilemma for the Industry. There is a demand for Indian IT talent all over the world, so it is more difficult to retain top talents. Thus, it is imperative that organizations and managers recognize that retention must be a continuing HR emphasis and a significant responsibility for all supervisors and managers. This research explores the challenges of retaining employees, the causes for employee attrition, effects of attrition on organization & individual development. As companies always think that giving a hike in salary to retain employees will solve a problem but this however is no longer helpful in solving the problem. A market survey was done on 100 employees of various Software Industries at Pune. Convenience sampling method was used for selection of the employees. The data was analyzed by using frequency distribution. Boss problem, compensation, lack of career opportunities work life balance is the main causes. High attrition rates have negative effects on the profitability. The paper concludes that if innovative retention strategies are implemented properly would help concern organization to understand their employees' needs. | Keywords : | | - effects
